To learn more about Michael Alm, check out his website. He loves integrating power carving into his builds and is working on a number of new carved pieces this year.įor the 2021 Arbortech Makerfest, Michael Alm will be answering your questions about past power carving projects, as well as showing his latest build, a massive wood and brass light fixture. Popular projects include the Melting Table, the Murphy Bar, and his many experiments with Patterned Plywood. His goal is to share his knowledge with others and help them up their game in the wood shop. He frequently experiments with new furniture pieces, sculptures, and power tools tools in his daily posts on Instagram. ![]() Alm produces two woodworking videos a month on his YouTube channel, and creates DIY plans for his projects. In 2014 he left his day job and started Alm Fab.Īlm Fab began as a design/build company, but in recent years has become a lot more. After a number of years working for museums, galleries, and other artists, Alm found the perfect space for building out his dream shop. Michael Alm is a Seattle based artist and woodworker. Referring to his educational background, Jackman says that very few people these days are lucky enough to have the hands-on learning experience that he had, so he’s trying to pay it forward by translating what he knows into very easily digestible videos where people are entertained while they learn and often laugh at his own expense (usually on purpose… usually). He makes fast-paced and entertaining build videos there that are made for everyone, but with the ultimate goal to get the younger generations excited about making again. These off-the-wall projects test his patience, but also push his skill-set to the next level, which is the real reason behind them. One might say he likes to push the boundaries, often creating enlarged wooden projects that he likes to refer to as “Jackman Sized”. Located in eastern Massachusetts, Paul Jackman is a full-time maker and content creator working with a mix of materials, typically focusing on high-end reclaimed and upcycled projects through woodworking.
